Ian Tamblyn

2:00pm Sunday, October 2, 2022

Musician, Adventurer & Playwright - Ian Tamblyn should need no introduction. For 50 years he has been playing, and composing an extensive catalog of music and advocating for the preservation and appreciation of the natural world. In the process he has produced over two dozen albums, 14 plays and over 100 theatre soundtracks.

Amongst the many awards in recognition of his enduring contributions, Ian was voted English Songwriter of the Year in 2010 by the Canadian Folk Music Awards; made a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society in 2012; was granted an honourary doctorate from Lakehead University and a Distinguished Alumni Award from Trent University; and in December of 2021 was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada for his enduring contributions as a folk music icon, adventurer and cultural ambassador for Canada.

We thought that the time and place were perfect for Ian Tamblyn to come to MERA. We are delighted that Ian agreed.
