MERA Recorder Classes

The MERA Recorder Consort is an ongoing group in its third year. We meet for two or three sessions of classes a year, playing easy to intermediate level music in 2-4 parts. It has become a tradition to play at the MERA Wassail party and at a private June party with other recorder players from Ottawa.

If you already read music and play an instrument, preferably the recorder, you might want to play with this group of enthusiastic amateur players, with teacher Helen Mogford to provide guidance and music. There are four sizes of recorders, soprano, alto, tenor and bass  Seasonal sessions last 8-10 weeks, with a 75 minute class on Friday afternoons. The 2018 Fall schedule is Sept 7, 14, 21 Oct 12, 19, 26 Nov 2, 9, 16, 23.

An hour long beginner class is available if people are interested and a common time is found during the week. Private lessons are available upon request.

The cost of group recorder lessons varies according to the number in the class, but generally ranges between $80 and $120 for ten weeks, $20 more if you are not a MERA member.

To enquire about joining the group or learning the recorder from the beginner level, contact Helen Mogford at 613 278 1991 or email here.
