MERA Recorder Classes
The MERA Recorder Consort is an ongoing, flexible group of players. We meet regularly, playing intermediate level music in 2-5 parts, soprano, alto, tenor and bass. We play for our own enjoyment, and we sometimes play for a MERA event such as the Wassail.
If you already read music and play the recorder, we would love you to join this group of enthusiastic amateur players, with teacher Helen Mogford providing guidance and music. We have a 75 minute class most Friday afternoons at 1:00.
A beginner class is available if people are interested and a common time is found during the week. You can come with no experience reading music. There are four sizes of recorders, soprano, alto, tenor and bass. Most people start with the small soprano or the next largest one, the alto. Private lessons are available upon request.
The cost of group recorder lessons might vary according to the number in the class, but generally ranges from $10-$12 a class for MERA members, and $12-$15 for non members with 20% going to MERA to keep the lights on.
