Have you ever wished you could paint your own masterpiece? Now you can with step-by-step instructions from preparing the canvas, to laying a background, to adding in detail and finishing a piece. You’ll learn colour mixing, direction of light, depth and shadow. To save time, and so you can focus on painting techniques, you will be provided with a sketch of the painting and will be taught how to transfer it to your 8 x 10 canvas. The pace of these classes will be determined by the students. Every week, we’ll build on your knowledge of the previous class. At the end of 6 weeks, you’ll bring home a few of your own masterpieces.

In this series, you’ll express your creativity and style with Van Gogh’s sweeping curls and characteristic brushstrokes. You create still life and landscapes and we’ll finish with one of Van Gogh’s self portraits.
VINCENT WILLEM VAN GOGH
(1853-1890) was a Dutch post impressionist artist. He worked as an art dealer with his brother and didn’t start his career as an artist until 1880. He produced his best known works in the final two years of his life, and an astonishing 80 pieces in his last two months. Over the course of 10 years, he painted more than 40 self portraits.
