MERA Blue Jeans Classical Music Series
The Blue Jeans Classical Music series is a showcase for professional classical musicians to come and share their music and musical passions with MERA audiences.
Over the past five years, we have hosted over 20 concerts. As Dean Hall is an intimate space with excellent acoustics, it is a rare opportunity to be very close to professional musicians as they display their talent and knowledge. We encourage the musicians to talk about their careers, instruments and the musical pieces they have chosen to present. Most concerts are held on Sunday afternoons, typically from 2:00 - 4:00 pm as it seems to be the time when more musicians are free of their regular commitments. The Wizards’ Cafe is open before and at the break in the concert, offering a range of hot and cold drinks, and tasty treats. All concerts will be announced through the MERA Website, Newsletter, Facebook page and our Events Calendar with a musical biography of the players and sometimes the list of pieces to be presented. MERA has worked hard to keep the prices very reasonable and to facilitate the enjoyment of classical music right here in Lanark County. To encourage the next generation of musicians, youths under the age of 16 are admitted free of charge.

Some of the musicians that have performed for the Blue Jeans Classical series include: Triola, Michel Szczeniak, the Jorge Miguel Ensemble, Emily Kennedy & Keenan Reimer Watts, Trio Corventano, Paul Marleyn, Frederic Lacroix, Gertrude Letourneau & Catherine Donkin, Mark Valenti, Karen Donnelly.
