Meed is a fourth-generation artist and craftsperson, she remembers holding brushes before she could hold a fork. She was born in Greenwich Village, New York City, and grew up in Woodstock, New York. She was surrounded by the art and influence of many fine painters since Woodstock was famous as an art colony before the Rock ‘n Roll Festival era. Her career as an artist has grown over the years, showing in many juried shows, and one-person shows. With many accolades to her name she has won numerous awards, including several best-of-shows. She has also judged in several important regional juried shows. She is an educator as well and was the art teacher for grades K – 8 at St. Nicholas Catholic School in Egg Harbor City. She also maintained studios at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville, NJ, and in Galloway, NJ for eleven years.
A recent citizen of Canada, her Canadian phase of painting is now well underway. She maintains a studio and framing workshop at her home in Almonte, Ontario. The
adventure continues.

Rob’s Tree

“I work in different media, drawing from my extensive collection of life experiences and memories. Many of my works express love for my native Catskill Mountains, particularly the Kaaterskill Clove, home of the Hudson River School. I also make wearable art in copper, brass, and sterling. As an artist, I am feral—not to be tied down to one style, medium or artistic philosophy. I am attracted mostly to nature, or things reverting to nature, like ruins of old structures. The medium and palette are chosen to best convey my subject, and my ideas about it. My studio is an ever- expanding olio of objects and curiosities awaiting new life in one of my constructions. Frames for flat work are chosen to enhance specific paintings. They may not match. At my shows, you never know what you will see. Come and be surprised!
Savour each piece in the show as though there was nothing else in the room. In this way, you will enjoy the show as I intended.”

You are invited to join Meed at the MERA Schoolhouse in McDonald’s Corners (974 Dalhousie Concession 9A) on Sunday May 12th from 2 to 4PM to meet the artist, view her works and purchase that “must have” piece. To arrange to see the exhibition at times other than the Meet the Artist event, please contact Wayne Stryde gwstryde@outlook.com.
