Jeffery Straker
The Great Big Sky Tour
Sunday, October 26, 2:00pm
MERA Schoolhouse, McDonald’s Corners

Jeffery Straker grew up listening to country music on his parents Saskatchewan grain farm while at the same time studying classical music, going on to receive his licentiate diploma in piano performance from Trinity College, London when he was only 19. Eventually, the work of fellow Saskatchewan native Joni Mitchell prompted him to begin writing his own material. Since 2006 Jeffery has recorded 10 albums while touring extensively in Canada, Europe, Latin America and Japan. His music was featured in a November 2024 live-from-Saskatoon broadcast of CBC Radio’s The Current. Most recently Jeffery was honoured as Contemporary Folk Singer of the Year at the 2025 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
An engaging entertainer, Jeffery is a talented and effervescent singer-songwriter pianist whose performances often draw comparisons with some of the finest musicians of that genre such as Harry Chapin, Murray McLauchlan, Billy Joel & Elton John. A clever lyricist and deft pianist with an innate sense of melody, this is a gifted Folk/Roots storyteller with enduring prairie roots.
