He doesn’t just represent African music; he re-defines it with authenticity. Rooted in tradition, with elements of modern jazz inspired by a great jazz trumpet player Kevin Turcotte and Alexander Brown from Cuba, and an African approach to rhythmic “scattering,” the music is driven by a solid groove and catchy melodic lines. Together, these elements create a distinctive signature sound that allows his band to stand out within the Canadian world music scene.
The band members are deeply musically connected, bringing together diverse cultural experiences from Japan, Milton (ON), Montreal (QC), and Cuba. This rich blend of backgrounds truly defines the group as Canadian world music.
He composed the theme song for CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) radio program Fresh Air, which is still on air today.
In the past, he performed as a backup singer for the Swedish pop group Ace of Base. He also worked as an MTV VJ in Eastern Europe.
