We’re Hiring! Part-Time Café Manager

We are pleased to announce that Lanark County is giving us a grant to help us operate our Saturday Café at MERA. In Autumn 2024, Steve Griffiths and a handful of volunteers started this community café to connect people over the winter months. We are so pleased its success. Every Saturday until after the Victoria Day weekend we will serve up beverages, baked goods and soups from 10 am. to 2 pm.

With the Lanark County grant we can now hire a café manager to keep it running smoothly. The café manager will open up the café and run the kitchen. This role frees up MERA volunteers to host the café, coordinate food and help with the children’s arts table. If you know of someone who would interested in this role, contact meraschoolhouse@gmail.com.

Thank you to Lanark County council for supporting our community.

We are looking for someone to manage the Saturday Cafe up until May 17th.

Responsibilities:

Set up the café and refreshments, run the café for 4 hours, take an inventory of supplies and foods and determine what we need for the following café. Coordinate requirements on the day with the MERA volunteers(s).

Individual candidate should:

have a kind disposition and client service skills
be energetic
be a self starter, ensure food safety and delivery and maintain a clean workspace.
have a Food Handler Certification for Ontario or we can arrange to cover the training session for certification
Note, a MERA volunteer will be onsite to assist and support with heavy traffic, breaks and conflicts.

$20 hour.
